Why it mattersA marketer can ask Claude Code for a chart or a map route and get a finished reel. The alternative is paying an editor or learning After Effects.
Artem Novitckii put up a pack of six skills for Claude Code. They render vertical social videos on your own computer. The repository is artemnovitckii/claude-animation-skills. It went up on 1 November. It had 272 stars and 34 forks by the time of writing.
Each skill is a slash command you run inside Claude Code. You type /map-route home to the gym, 2.8 km and Claude writes a short spec, runs the skill's build script and saves an MP4. The video is 1080 by 1920 at 30 frames per second, the size Instagram and TikTok want. The quick skills render in about ten seconds. The 3D ones take about a minute and a half.
What the six skills do
Four of the skills work from a short JSON spec. /graph draws a smooth line and counts one big number up with the line's tip. /minimalistic-graphics draws hairline steps rising on a white background, with one dot that hops up them. /map-route builds a white city, draws a route while a camera follows, drops a pin and counts down an ETA. /breakdown takes a phone apart layer by layer, with a leader line and a label on every part.
The other two are full explainer reels. /stick-figure writes a bright cartoon world with stick people and whip transitions, times one-word captions to a voiceover and renders. /zach-d-films writes a 3D cartoon "what if" short, slow-motion impact and all. Both come with a finished example reel to work from.
How it is put together
The quick skills use HyperFrames, HeyGen's open-source frame renderer. The 3D skills run three.js scenes through a headless Chrome driven by Playwright. GSAP drives the 2D animation. The two voice skills download Parakeet, a one-gigabyte speech model. It runs on your own machine, so there is no API key for the audio. Each build writes a contact sheet as well. The safe area for Instagram captions is drawn on the sheet, so you can see what will be cut off.
Who it is for
A founder, a marketer or a product manager can use the pack with Claude Code. They do not need After Effects, and they do not need to pay an editor for the small jobs. The author says every technique in the pack was used to build a real reel first. The example files in the repository are the finished versions of those reels. The two engine skills take a working session, the author says in the README. Claude writes the script, times the captions and checks the stills with you.
