Vite+ 1.0 ships four months after VoidZero joined Cloudflare, with an Oxc React compiler, Vitest 5, and Prettier-compatible formatter Oxfmt

An AI coding agent that rewrites a file, saves it, and waits for the linter, formatter, tests and compiler to run is doing that loop hundreds of times a day, and any second it spends waiting is a second it is not making progress. Four months after acquiring the VoidZero group behind Vite, Vitest and Oxc, Cloudflare shipped Vite+ 1.0 on 28 September 2026 and named the speed-up as the pitch: the toolchain is being tuned for coding agents as much as for humans.

The company says VoidZero has shipped more than 80 releases and closed over 1,200 issues in those four months. Vite+ 1.0 bundles Vite 8, Vitest 5, Rolldown, Oxlint and Oxfmt behind a single command-line tool with task caching and defaults set for the group's whole toolchain.

The pieces that changed

Cloudflare's own numbers, quoted from its release post: the Oxc React Compiler, a Rust rewrite of the React team's own compiler, is "10x faster than the original Babel implementation" and uses less memory. Vitest 5, released in September, "cuts test times by double-digit percentages across many common scenarios," and Cloudflare's headline calls out up to 50 percent faster than Vitest 4. Oxfmt, a new formatter with Rust ports of the JSON, CSS, SCSS, Less, GraphQL and YAML formatters, keeps Prettier-compatible output and ergonomics and runs 7 times faster than Prettier, according to Cloudflare. The tsgolint engine that powers Oxlint's type-aware rules is now stable, and Cloudflare says it runs "12 to 18 times faster than ESLint with typescript-eslint."

Cloudflare also shipped an experimental "Bundled Dev" mode that uses Vite's production bundler during development, aimed at large codebases and at remote sandboxes where network overhead adds up. Cloudflare's own dashboard already uses it for all internal developers.

What the framing is doing

Cloudflare puts the argument for a faster toolchain in a single line: "as inference gets faster, the speed of type-checking, linting, or building the code becomes the bottleneck again." The claim locates the current wait inside the toolchain, at every layer between the agent proposing a change and the agent knowing whether that change is correct: the Oxc compiler, Rolldown, Vite, Oxlint, Vitest. Optimizing one layer benefits everything above it.

Cloudflare committed a further $1 million to open-source work on top of the $1 million Vite ecosystem fund it announced at the acquisition, and said the tools stay open source, vendor-agnostic and community-driven. The group named three items coming next: parser improvements in Oxc, a re-designed chunking algorithm in Rolldown, and an open-source, self-hostable version of Void, a Vite-native deployment platform on top of Cloudflare.

The choice to reach for is which piece to adopt first. A team already on Vite gets Vite+'s bundled toolchain by installing one binary; a team on Prettier can drop into Oxfmt with the migration command Cloudflare documents; a team on ESLint with typescript-eslint gets tsgolint by turning on the type-aware flag in Oxlint. Each swap is scoped and each pays back the same way, in seconds shaved off a loop that runs all day.
