What is the best open-source alternative to Zapier?

Windmill for code-first automation, Langflow or Dify for AI-first workflows, Huginn for private rule-based agents.

Which of these are really open source?

Activepieces, Langflow, Huginn and Windmill's source build carry OSI licences. n8n's Sustainable Use License limits use to internal business, personal and non-commercial purposes. Dify adds no-multi-tenant and logo conditions to Apache-2.0. This directory labels those two source available and says why on each page.

Which ones have AI agents?

n8n, Activepieces, Dify and Langflow all build AI agents; Dify gives each agent its own sandbox and Langflow deploys flows as MCP servers. Windmill is code-first with AI-assisted development. Huginn has no AI: its agents are rule-based workers, as they have been since 2013.

Can I build a product on top of these?

Under Activepieces (MIT outside its enterprise folders), Langflow (MIT) or Huginn (MIT), yes. n8n's licence and Dify's multi-tenant clause both need an agreement first, and Windmill needs a commercial licence to resell or to run it as a managed service.
