Google is opening AI Mode information monitoring to all users worldwide
Robby Stein at Google said AI Mode information monitoring is rolling out to every user worldwide, and that Search will now suggest monitoring tasks during searches.

Why it mattersA local business or retailer that shows up in an AI Mode monitoring update reaches a reader who asked to be told about that topic, so the placement carries weight beyond a single search visit.
A shopper who asks Google once about a product they cannot yet buy will now be told when it comes back in stock, without ever asking again. That expansion of AI Mode is now reaching every user, worldwide.
Robby Stein, VP of Product for Google Search, announced on X on Monday that AI Mode information monitoring is rolling out to all users. Search Engine Journal covered the announcement the same day. The feature had been available only to Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers.
What the feature does
Stein described the feature in the announcement: "Just tell AI Mode exactly what to look for & Search will continuously check across changing info on the web like sites, forums and social posts, our real-time data sources, and Shopping Graph of 60B+ products, so you can stay up-to-date with fresh info." The Shopping Graph number is Google's own figure.
Search will also suggest monitoring tasks during regular searches, so a shopper looking at a product could be offered a task to watch for a price drop or stock change without setting it up by hand. In the demo video attached to the announcement, a user asks AI Mode to flag weekend pop-ups and the feature says it has "set up a task to keep you updated" on vintage markets and pop-up events in Austin, listing flea markets, stoop sales, and block parties as items it will monitor.
What changed since the earlier launch
At Google I/O in May, the company said information agents would launch first for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers this summer. Search Engine Journal reported in June that the launch reached Ultra subscribers only, across all AI Mode languages and markets.
Two things are different in Monday's version. Google now calls the feature "info monitoring capabilities" in this post, and the earlier post called it "information agents." The rollout is described as global, without a list of languages, and Stein does not say when Pro users got access.
Every example Stein gave was local or shopping: new restaurants or pop-ups nearby, holiday activities for kids in a local area, back-in-stock and price-drop updates. He called them topics people keep coming back to.
The question of links and referrals
Stein's June post said agent updates would include links to the web, so the sites feeding an answer would still get a visit. Monday's post is silent on that question. Neither post explains how Search picks the sources that feed a monitoring update, so a local business or online store cannot yet tell how often their site will be quoted, and whether a quote will send them a visit.
For a team building for search visibility, this shifts a piece of a customer's search behavior from a one-time query into an ongoing agent task. The pages that get pulled into a monitoring update are the pages the reader sees week after week, so the target changes from ranking for one search to being the source the agent keeps checking. That measurement is unavailable in Search Console right now, so the earliest signal is likely referral traffic tagged as coming from Google's own products.
