Your own AI coding tools, with your code kept on your machines.
You pay a seat for every engineer who uses an AI coding assistant, and parts of your source code are sent to the vendor with each request. We set up open-source coding tools for your team, connected to a model you choose, including one on your own servers.
The tool in the editor, the model behind it, and the checks.
Tools matched to the work
Suggestions as you type, an agent for larger changes, or both.
A model you choose
Tested on your own code before the team depends on it.
One setup for everyone
Installed by a script, so a new engineer is ready on the first day.
Clear limits
What the tool may read, what an agent may run, and what it must never touch.
Checks before release
Automatic checks written from the specification, so fast code is also correct code.
Use you can see
Requests and cost per engineer, to compare with paid seats.
An AI coding assistant sends parts of your code to a model and returns suggestions. The paid ones charge per engineer per month, and the model runs on the vendor's side.
Open-source coding tools separate the two halves: the tool in the editor is open, and you choose which model answers it. Our pages on alternatives to Cursor and alternatives to GitHub Copilot list them, among them Cline, Tabby and Zed. The directory marks Cline and Zed as open source and Tabby as source available.
What we do
Choose the tools for how your team works. Some engineers want suggestions as they type. Some want an agent that makes a change across many files and runs the tests. These are different tools, and a team may need both.
Choose the model, and where it runs. A model on your own server keeps code inside your network. A paid model billed by use is the other route. We test both on your own code and show you the results.
Set it up for every engineer. The same settings for the whole team, installed by a script, so a new engineer is ready on the first day.
Set the limits. Which folders the tool may read, which commands an agent may run without asking, and what it must never touch.
Add the checks that make AI-written code safe to release. An assistant produces code fast. Whether that code is correct is a separate question, answered by automatic checks written from the description of what the software must do. Building those checks is the main part of how Reveneau works, and we set them up for your code.
Measure the use. Requests per engineer and cost per engineer, so you can compare with the seats you paid for.
What to expect
These tools need someone to keep them current as new versions are released. If no one on your team wants that job, a paid assistant may suit you better, and we will say so.
Common questions
What is an open-source alternative to Cursor or GitHub Copilot?
Our directory lists Cline, Kilo Code, Tabby and twinny on both its alternatives to Cursor page and its alternatives to GitHub Copilot page, with each project's licence. They give suggestions in the editor or act as an agent that changes files, and you choose which model answers them. Reveneau sets them up for your whole team.
Can AI coding tools work without sending our code outside the company?
Yes, when the model runs on your own server. The open coding tool in the editor sends each request to an address you set, and that address can be a machine inside your network. Reveneau sets up the model server and points every engineer's tool at it, so your code stays on machines you control.
Is a model on our own server good enough for coding?
That depends on the work and on the hardware you can give it. Reveneau tests an open model on your own servers and a paid model on the same real tasks from your code, and shows you both sets of results. You can also use your own model for everyday suggestions and a paid model for larger changes.
What is the difference between a coding assistant and a coding agent?
A coding assistant suggests the next lines while an engineer types, and the engineer accepts or rejects each one. A coding agent takes a described task, edits several files, runs commands such as the tests, and reports back. A coding agent needs stricter limits on what it may read and run, and Reveneau sets those limits during setup.
How do we control what a coding agent can do on a developer's machine?
Through settings that list the folders a coding agent may read, the commands it may run without asking, and the files it must never change. Reveneau writes one shared set of these rules for your team and installs it for every engineer. Anything outside the rules needs the engineer to approve it at the time.
How do we know AI-written code is correct?
By automatic checks written from the description of what the software must do, run on every change before release. This is how Reveneau builds: AI writes the code, and a large set of checks proves each change. For your team we set up the same kind of checks for your code, so a quick suggestion still has to pass them before release.
Will our own AI coding tools cost less than paid seats?
It depends on how much each engineer uses the tools. A paid seat is a fixed monthly amount. Your own setup costs the model use, or the server that runs the model, plus time to keep the tools current. Reveneau measures requests and cost per engineer after setup, so you compare real figures with the seats you paid for.
Who keeps our AI coding tools up to date?
Someone has to, because these projects release new versions and the models behind them are replaced by newer ones. It can be an engineer on your team, using the setup script Reveneau hands over, or Reveneau under a separate agreement. If nobody will own that job, a paid coding assistant is the better choice, and we will tell you.
Other services
Replace a paid AI service with one you own.
You pay an AI vendor by the month, by the seat or by use, and the bill grows with your business. We set up an open-source replacement on your own servers, connect it to your product, and build the software around it. At the end the servers, the data and the code are yours.
Your own AI model server, in place of a bill for every request.
You pay a model vendor for every request your product makes. We set up an open language model on your own machines, give it the request format your code already uses, and test it on your real work before you switch.
Your own company chat assistant, in place of a seat for every person.
You pay a monthly seat for every person who uses a chat assistant. We set up an open-source chat assistant on your own servers, with your company sign-in, and connect it to the models you choose.
Your own search over company documents, on servers you control.
You pay for a tool that searches your company's files and answers questions from them. We set up an open-source replacement on your own servers, connect it to where your documents live, and keep each person's view limited to what they are allowed to see.
Your own automation platform, in place of a bill for every task.
You pay an automation service for every task it runs, and the automations your business depends on live in someone else's account. We set up an open-source automation platform on your own servers and rebuild your automations on it.
Your own voice AI: speech, transcripts and phone agents on your servers.
You pay a voice service for every character it speaks or every minute it listens. We set up open-source speech models on your own hardware, connect them to your product or your phone system, and test them in your language before you switch.
