Your own automation platform, in place of a bill for every task.
You pay an automation service for every task it runs, and the automations your business depends on live in someone else's account. We set up an open-source automation platform on your own servers and rebuild your automations on it.
Your automations, on a platform you run.
A full list
Every automation: what starts it, what it does, who depends on it.
Licence read first
The projects differ, and the difference matters if you sell automations to customers.
Rebuilt and compared
Old and new run on the same events until the results match.
Keys kept safe
Stored encrypted, with limited access and a record of every change.
Failures handled
The right person is told, every failed run is recorded, and a run can be repeated.
AI steps
Reading, sorting and drafting steps that call a model on your own server.
Automation services connect your tools: a new order creates an invoice, a form entry creates a ticket. The bill grows with your volume. The automations themselves live in the vendor's account, in the vendor's format.
Open projects run the same kind of automation on a server you control. Our pages on alternatives to Zapier and alternatives to Make list them, among them n8n, Activepieces and Windmill.
Read the licence before you choose
The licences differ. The directory marks Activepieces and Windmill as open source. It marks n8n as source available: by n8n's own description, its Sustainable Use License allows internal business use, and its enterprise features need a paid licence. If you plan to offer automations to your own customers as part of a product, the licence matters more than any feature, and we read it against your plan first.
What we do
List every automation you run. What starts it, what it does, how often it runs, and who depends on it. The list shows which ones still matter.
Check each connection. For every tool your automations touch, we check whether the open project has a ready connection. Where it has none, we write one.
Rebuild and test. Each automation is rebuilt on the new platform and run beside the old one on the same events until the results match.
Keep passwords and keys safe. The platform holds the keys to your other systems. We store them encrypted, limit who can read them, and keep a record of every change.
Handle failure. When a step fails, the right person is told and the run can be repeated. Every failed run is recorded.
Add AI steps where they help. A step that reads an email and files it, or drafts a reply for a person to approve, can call a model on your own server.
When code is the better answer
Some automations have grown into programs, with many branches and many exceptions. Those are better rebuilt as ordinary software with tests. When we find one, we say so and scope it as a separate build.
Common questions
What is an open-source alternative to Zapier or Make?
Our directory lists n8n, Activepieces, Windmill, Huginn, Dify and Langflow as projects that replace Zapier and Make, with each project's licence. They run on a server you control and connect your tools in the same way. Reveneau chooses one against your licence needs and your connections, sets it up, and rebuilds your automations on it.
Can a business use n8n freely?
By n8n's own description, its Sustainable Use License allows internal business use, and its enterprise features need a paid licence. Our directory marks n8n as source available for that reason. If you want to offer automations to your own customers inside a product, Reveneau reads the licence against that plan before recommending n8n or another project.
Can you move our existing automations to the new platform?
Yes. Reveneau lists every automation you run, rebuilds each one on the new platform, and runs old and new side by side on the same events until the results match. Where the old service has no export the new platform can read, the move is a rebuild, and the side-by-side run is what proves each automation still does its job.
What happens if one of our tools has no ready connection?
Reveneau writes the connection. If a tool lets a program read and write its data, an automation platform can call it. We check every tool your automations touch against the project's own connection list at the start, and tell you which ones need a written connection before the work begins.
Where are our passwords and keys kept on our own automation platform?
On your own server, stored encrypted, with access limited to named people and a record of every change. An automation platform holds the keys to every system it touches, so it needs the same protection as those systems. Reveneau sets up the storage, the access rules and the record during the first setup, before any real key is added.
What happens when an automation fails?
The platform records the failed run, tells the person responsible, and lets the run be repeated once the cause is fixed. Reveneau sets this up for every automation during the rebuild and tests it by making each one fail on purpose. You get a single page that shows which automations ran, which failed, and which are waiting.
Can our automations use AI?
Yes. A step can pass text to a model and use the answer: sorting incoming email, reading the figures from an invoice, or drafting a reply for a person to approve. The model can run on your own server, so the text stays on your machines. The n8n project says in its own description that it connects to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or open models.
When should an automation become normal software?
When it has many branches and exceptions, when a mistake costs real money, or when several people need to change it safely. Software can be tested automatically before every change, and a large automation is hard to test that way. Reveneau points these out while listing your automations and scopes each as a separate build.
Other services
Replace a paid AI service with one you own.
You pay an AI vendor by the month, by the seat or by use, and the bill grows with your business. We set up an open-source replacement on your own servers, connect it to your product, and build the software around it. At the end the servers, the data and the code are yours.
Your own AI model server, in place of a bill for every request.
You pay a model vendor for every request your product makes. We set up an open language model on your own machines, give it the request format your code already uses, and test it on your real work before you switch.
Your own company chat assistant, in place of a seat for every person.
You pay a monthly seat for every person who uses a chat assistant. We set up an open-source chat assistant on your own servers, with your company sign-in, and connect it to the models you choose.
Your own search over company documents, on servers you control.
You pay for a tool that searches your company's files and answers questions from them. We set up an open-source replacement on your own servers, connect it to where your documents live, and keep each person's view limited to what they are allowed to see.
Your own voice AI: speech, transcripts and phone agents on your servers.
You pay a voice service for every character it speaks or every minute it listens. We set up open-source speech models on your own hardware, connect them to your product or your phone system, and test them in your language before you switch.
Your own AI coding tools, with your code kept on your machines.
You pay a seat for every engineer who uses an AI coding assistant, and parts of your source code are sent to the vendor with each request. We set up open-source coding tools for your team, connected to a model you choose, including one on your own servers.
